From September 15-18, Cluj-Napoca became “home” for more than 350 young people from Romania who took part in the activities of the largest national youth event. The national youth community was joined by youth representatives from the Republic of Moldova. They had the opportunity to share ideas, experiences and values with relevant actors of the local ecosystem in a bilateral debate organized in the City Hall of Cluj-Napoca.
The Youth Federation of Cluj (FTC), an active promoter of inter-community synergies, has actively contributed to the conceptualization and definition of the event, both as a member of the Romanian Youth Capital Governance and as a local link between the community it represents and the public and private sectors.
FTC together with its partners, the Youth Council of Romania, PONT Group and Romanian Commercial Bank, with the support of the “Dumitru Fărcaș” Students’ Culture House, Cluj-Napoca City Hall and Local Council and Cluj County Council, have outlined a comprehensive program of actions, offering the participants the opportunity to take part in 43 activities such as: practical workshops on sustainability and youth participation, round tables on partnerships in the implementation of sustainable development goals and humanitarian crisis, the future of work, education, equal opportunities attended by decision-makers, representatives of national or county institutions, etc
The theme of this year’s Youth Summit combined two topics of interest: ‘Youth Participation’ and ‘Sustainability’, objectives included in the European Union Youth Strategy 2019-2027.
During the three days spent at the “Dumitru Fărcaș” Students’ Culture House during the event, the organizers guided participants towards sustainable choices: cardboard cups, recycled paper, thermos bottles, vegan and vegetarian food, sustainable products fair and encouraging them to use green means of transport.
On the evening of September 17, during the Closing Ceremony, the city of Ploiești was announced as the Youth Capital of Romania 2024.
